If you have a small garden, this DIY project will certainly work for you. It’s made with a pallet, which has been repurposed into a vertical herb planter. Yes, you heard it right, a pallet, the same thing that’s used in shipping and transporting goods, and holding tools in construction sites.
If you have one at home that’s no longer used, or you can get hold of it (check out your local home improvement store), then you can start with this project right away. Just see to it that the pallet you’re going to use doesn’t have nails sticking out, parts that are already rotting and so on. In other words, the pallet should be in tiptop condition. It should also be heat treated, not fumigated with pesticides.
As you can see in the photo above, it’s not so difficult to make. But to make sure that you get it right, check out the tutorial below from Life on the Balcony. The author of the blog is nice enough to provide a comprehensive tutorial about this.
She also gives a roundup of all the things you’ll need which include: a pallet, 2 large bags of potting soil, annual flower packets, roll of landscape fabric, staple gun, staples, and sand. She also gives you tips on how to ensure that the soil or plants don’t fall off when you put the pallet upright.
Have fun with this easy but pretty DIY project for your garden!
